Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tips

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is finally here!  It’s time for the magic of Christmas at the most magical place on Earth.  The Christmas Party is an after hours event full of live entertainment and holiday cheer.  Here are some great Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party tips to help you have the most merriest time.

Eat Before You Go

You should not stuff yourself before the party.  There is too much good stuff to enjoy while you are there.  Many stations around the park offer free treats and there is no limit to how many you can claim.  With that in mind, you should have a sensible meal before the party.  Make sure you get some real substance before taking in all that sugar.  The cookie stations around the park offer a wide variety of holiday cookies and other sweet treats and each cookie station also offers a beverage of some sort.  All of it is included in the price of your party ticket.

Plan Before You Go

It may sound silly, but with an event like this with limited hours, I find it best to do some planning based on your favorites and your crowd! You can Download the 2018 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Event Guide here and take note of the Entertainment, Treats, Attractions and more! Start there and determine what are the must-do items on your list and those in your party. For my boys, rides are on the top of their list. For me, I wanted to check out the holiday treats and the parade. It’s best to have some sort of game plan going in so that you’re sure to hit everything on your must-do list.

Layer Up

Winter nights in Disney World get chilly, even if it is warm during the day.  You may find yourself in situations at the party where you feel the cold.  However, you may get overheated at other times depending on how warm your clothes are.  The reason for this is the fluctuating crowd levels and moving indoors and outdoors.  Depending on how confined the spaces are and how many people are around you you will need to adjust occasionally.  Plan your attire in advance so that you can easily add or remove layers to your comfort level throughout the night.

Start with the Rides

Get into the park early to experience the rides.  One of the most essential Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tips is to get rested and show up early.  Fastpass is available during normal park hours and you can get in for the party at 4:00 even though it doesn’t officially start until 7.  There is a great period while the park is closing to regular guests when you can take advantage of the dwindling wait times.  Entertainment ruins throughout the night with multiple showtimes.  Historically, the crowds settle in for the first viewing of shows and parades.  This means more time to play and less crowds at later shows.  Check your show schedule and plan for later performances.

Maximize Treat Stops

Now I’m a bit of a Disney Foodie, so the treat stops were top on my list. But since I was with a crowd who all had different interests, we found ways to maximize treat stops! One of my main tips is to stop at Pinocchio Village Haus! Here you can find ALL of the cookies you’ll find at various treats stops throughout the park and a few different drinks as well. They are very generous at this stop so you can request “one of each” and honestly even go back for more. It’s a popular stop so it will likely be very busy, but you should also be able to snag a spot to sit and enjoy your treats too – which you won’t find at every stop so take advantage!

Holiday Wishes

Speaking of performances, there are two events that I would say are a MUST-DO on everyone’s list and one of those is Holiday Wishes. During Holiday Wishes, the night sky lights up high above Cinderella Castle with a holiday fireworks spectacular! You really can see it from anywhere in the park, but my suggestion would be to get there a little early (check the event guide for times) to make sure you get a spot in front of the castle.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

The other must-do event is Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade! The enchanting holiday parade during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park transforms Main Street, U.S.A. Santa Claus, gingerbread men, elves, reindeer, toy soldiers and other friends from the North Pole join Mickey Mouse and his pals. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf from “Frozen” join in the fun. I love how festive and fun the parade is, perfect for the holidays. TIP: if you’re near the front, climb up the stairs at the train station for a unique perspective!

Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party

This is a brand new dessert party in Town Square.  Dessert parties are an experience with an added cost that provides refreshments throughout the night and preferred viewing of the parades or fireworks.  Tony’s new event offers savory hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats as well as private viewing of the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.  This cost is $99 and since it’s the first year this part of the party has been added, It may be a good idea to try it out before it becomes super popular.  The view of the parade from Tony’s is special, even if you don’t need the reserved viewing later in the night.  This is one of those Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tips that is not for everyone.  The value is totally subjective.  However, because it’s new and a pretty great addition to the party, I’m sharing it here.
